The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers (“The Company”) is launching a Craft Bursary Scheme to provide financial support and mentoring to students undertaking craft training with a recognised training provider.
The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers is one of the ancient Livery Companies of the City of London. It has an active charitable, educational, and social programme and maintains a close involvement with the tiling and bricklaying industries. The Bursary Scheme is open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 66 who will be undertaking, from September 2023, a recognised form of craft training. The training must relate directly to one of our three crafts, namely: -
- Bricklaying
- Roof Slating and Tiling
- Wall and Floor Tiling
Training may be full time or part time and can be for either modern or heritage craft training. The Craft Bursary Scheme is open to employed, self-employed and unemployed students. Each successful applicant will receive £1,000 and help and support from a Craft Mentor, provided by The Company. Recipients of a Craft Bursary will also be invited to attend the annual Craft Awards Luncheon, held each March, in London.
To apply for the Bursary, you must first complete and return an application form before 30 June 2023, which can obtained by e-mailing the Clerk, here. All entries will be carefully vetted and then shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a virtual interview with one of our Craft Mentors, prior to a final decision being made. As part of the application process, you must provide a supporting reference from your training provider and employer, if applicable. Full terms and conditions of the Craft Bursary Scheme are set out in the application form. Successful applicants will receive their Bursary, paid directly into their Bank account on or before 30 September.
