A means of classifying a glazed tile's ability to withstand varying levels of foot traffic, running from Class 1 to Class 5. Originated with the Porcelain Enamel Institute in the USA, now defined in BS EN ISO 10545-7. Class 1 is for bare feet, domestic, up to class 5 high commercial traffic.
