Court Assistant Simon Martin organised a group of Tylers and Bricklayers and guests to attend the Lord Mayor's Big Curry Lunch at the Guildhall. This was the tenth Big Curry Lunch and was hosted by the Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor, Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley with the Royal Guest of Honour, the Duke of York. The Lunch is held in aid of ABF the Soldiers' Charity, supporting soldiers, veterans and their families who have been affected by the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers had their own cordoned area where a glass of champagne, wines and beers were enjoyed pre-lunch by the attending guests. At the appropriate time we processed to the lunch hall where a wonderful banquet of chicken curry, prawn curry, dhall, rice and naan bread was served with all the appropriate condiments, with more wine and beer. Whilst enjoying the excellent food and drink, Tylers and Bricklayers enthusiastically entered the silent auction which comprised 41 lots ranging from a Methuselah of Champagne to a trip to China.

After lunch we walked through a "mini market" where the Worshipful Companies of Fruiters, Gardeners and Turners were displaying their excellent wares, offering Liverymen the unique opportunity to make special purchases. We then made our way to the Print Room where we were welcomed with coffee and wonderful hand-made chocolates.

The lunch was a great success, thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and many thanks are extended to Court Assistant Simon Martin for organising this excellent event.
