This event was held in April 2007.
Wood Street Police Station is the headquarters of the City of London
Police, who kindly gave us this tour to illustrate their responsibilities
in the Square Mile.
We were given an introduction by Assistant Commissioner Frank Armstrong(right)
We then went on to see the control room in operation, and also visited the very interesting Museum
(though it was not possible to take photographs of these |

Spaniels are used to search for drugs and for explosives. Their training
is specialised.
|

Specialist dogs for explosives are trained to sit
quietly when they have detected any, while those for drugs are trained
to bark loudly and jump up on the person concerned |
German shepherds are used to help in finding and immobilising criminals
|

The found the "criminal" hiding under the van in mext to no time, and barked at full volume in his ear. |
We were also told about the work of the mounted police |

though photographing the horses proved a bit of a problem |
